Historical Linguistics of Iranian Languages
My main interest lies in the history of modern Iranian languages. I think that understanding the historical development of a language means to understand the respective language better, its dialectal divergence, its relation-ship to other languages.
This is why I link my studies on Middle Iranian, and the analysis of its grammar and its grammatical changes, to the investigation of Modern Iranian varieties.Current Projects
- The emergence and development of ergativity in Old and Middle Iranian (PhD project)
- The reading of Middle Persian verbal endings (manuscript planned for publication in a joined project with Juan José Ferrer Losilla / University of Salamanca)
- The use of <BRA> in Middle Persian and its cognates in New Iranian languages
- Avestan stemmatology
