The numbering and readings of the following texts are taken from Gusmani, Lydisches Wörterbuch, with Erg. In a few cases I have adopted a reading from his critical apparatus which is not the one he chooses for his main text. Italics indicate an uncertain reading, boldface that a reading is emended [the latter markings are not available in the present TITUS edition. JG]!

A transcription of the Aramaic inscription on the Sardes stele (1) has been added. J.G.


To make searches and copying easier, I have substituted capitals for all non-standard letters:
   L for lambda,
   S for s with grave accent,
   A for nasalized a,
   E for nasalized e,
   N for nu,
   T for tau.
The equals sign marks morpheme boundary. Note that the morphological analyses are mine and do not always agree with those of Gusmani. HCM

For the present TITUS edition, the usual transcription for the characters mentioned above has been restored. The triangle-shaped character appearing in inscr. 10 is replaced by [> here. J.G.
