Lexical Computing Analyst: Collins Electronic Dictionaries

  We wish to appoint a Lexical Computing Analyst for Electronic
  Publishing within the Dictionaries Division of HarperCollins
  Publishers. The Division produces bilingual, monlingual native speaker
  and monolingual EFL dictionaries and other reference publications. The
  successful applicant will provide technical support for the editorial
  teams, assist in maintain the Division's Unix (SunOS/Solaris) servers,
  and assist in the development of our web sites and our ongoing
  programme of electronic products and services. We are looking for
  solid Unix skills, especially in the area of text processing, with
  Perl and/or 'C' programming abilities, along with a good knowledge of
  desktop PCs (Windows). Familiarity with HTML and Java, and an interest
  in natural language processing would be definite advantages. We would
  expect the postholder to show a flexible approach to working co-
  operatively with language experts, publishers and editors. Training
  will be provided in the more specialised aspects of our computational
  work.

  Dictionaries Electronic is located within the English Department at
  the University of Birmingham and our current accommodation offers a
