    1st circular

    After five successful conferences which took place in Bamberg, Prague, Dresden, Vienna, and Bernardin, the 6th International Conference about the Use of Computers in Historical and Comparative Linguistics will be organized in Frankfurt a.M. from October 21. through 24., 1997.

    The following main topics are suggested:

  • 1. The TITUS-database accomplishes its tenth year:
    The first CD-ROM containing texts prepared for full retrieval (in Wordcruncher format) will be presented (we hope); cf. http://titus.uni-frankfurt.de/texte/texte.htm
  • 2. Computers and didactics: Preparation and dissemination of teaching materials
  • 3. Texts, graphics, audio-visual media and their electronic linking
  • 4. Historical Linguistics, Fonts and Unicode

    • Call for papers and presentations:
    Everybody interested in participating is asked to send in his proposals for a contribution. Deadline: As soon as possible, but latest by September 1st, 1997. Speaking time is expected to be 20 mins., plus 10 mins. of discussion.

    Please fill in the included form and send it in by August 1st, 1997. Conference fees will be DM 40,­ (to be paid during the conference). Registered participants will receive a second circular with details about the conference schedule, hotel reservations etc.
